It can’t just be me, Pontus, who finds it tricky to pick mushrooms and berries in the forest while having the dogs along. It usually means I’m juggling both leashes and baskets – or bags full of berries and mushrooms. Especially when I find a good spot to pick from and have to tie the dogs to a tree so they don’t dash off after game or trample everything I’m trying to collect. Anyone with a hunting dog probably knows the feeling.
I find it impractical, time-consuming, and often tangled – and that’s really where the idea for what we now call the Rex Leash was born. (For those wondering, we name our leashes after the dogs we’ve had over the years, to add a bit of our own touch.)
The Rex Leash has two fixed D-rings and a snap hook on each end. The D-ring near the handle lets you clip one of the hooks to create a hand loop. The second D-ring is at the opposite end, next to the clip that attaches to your dog’s collar or harness. There’s also a sliding D-ring that you can move freely along the leash. Together, the two fixed D-rings and the movable one allow you to use the leash at full length, halve it, or adjust it exactly to the length you prefer.
The Rex Multi Leash is built for function. It’s made to solve as many small problems as possible on everyday walks, without being a hassle to carry. One handy use is when you want both hands free: if your waist belt has a loop you can clip the leash to it, otherwise just run the leash around your waist or across your chest. Clip the hook into the sliding D-ring and adjust the length to fit you. That way you stay in control while keeping both hands free.
Another use is when you’re out picking berries or mushrooms, or just stopping for a coffee. You can quickly secure your dog to a branch or a tree. It’s fast and simple, and you don’t have to worry about your dog not being properly attached. When you’re done, just unclip from the D-ring and continue your walk.
The hexa-fabric also means it won’t get grimy, sticky or sour-smelling after a wet day in the woods. It’s antibacterial and rinses clean in seconds. Like all our leashes, the Rex Multi Leash comes in 2 to 10 metres, in black, brown, olive green, navy and orange. It’s fitted with Swedish snap hooks by default, but you can of course get a twist-lock at the collar end, or bolt snaps if you prefer.
